My Little Dragon

Here's something I made for a contest related to "How to Train your Dragon", basically designing a dragon :)
Along the way I got to practice some painting and creature design (which apparently I don't do enough ^^;)

New Style?

Lately I've been feeling hat I've hit some sort of roadblock, something's keeping me from progressing. So I've decided to try and break some self imposed technical limits, and tried some new techniques :)

This one's actually the first one, it actually started from a color test, so to test something I drew a leg (her left btw) and from there suddenly all the rest of the body formed! XD There I knew I was up to something..

Vampirella

My entry for the weekly Trinquette Publishing challenge :)
Trying it out to make myself draw more. To be honest, I'm not sure I'm 100% happy with the result. I feel it's not engaging enough, also seeing the other entries, well, I have a lot more work ahead of me ^^`
On the challenge you get a set of photo poses to choose from and the subject character. Here's what I came up with:

Starting sketch: I did a few attempts, and matching to a given pose is a little challenging :)

When I was finished with the character I wasn't really sure what to do with the background (bah) so I tried some things. She's leaning on something so I had to make it fit.

As you can see I went with something different :)

Here's a creature design I've suggested for a film in the works. Eventually it wasn't accepted, but oh well..

Princess Leia

So Comikaza, a comic book store over here had a Star Wars drawing contest. As you see, I've decided to give my version of Princess Leia in her cell, before being rescued by Luke & co.

Now before that I had a different Idea, Padme in a moment of silence, but eventually decided to go with leia ^^;

Echidna

A little something for a Saturday Sketch group, themed "Mythology". Good for getting some inspiration nowadays.
Yes, of course I've scoured the Mythology for a cool female creature ;)
Echidna, Mother of all Monsters. She spawned many of the known monsters from Greek Mythology, such as Cerberus and the Hydra.
A little on the sketchy side, I know. Trying a bit more "loose" style.

Recent Stuff

So what have I been doing lately? Working on my next cosplay among the rest, but illustation-wise I was getting to a point where i want to try some new techniques. Basically there are 2 ways that I know of to approach an illustration. one is sketching and when the sketch is tight enough, moving on to inking, and then coloring etc. The other way is roughing out the illustration, and starting to paint right away, (maybe with adding values before that). there are advantages and disadvantages to each. seeing all the wonderful art from people who paint scenes, I want to try that too, so I'm trying the second method. Yes it can be frustrating at times, getting lost and not in my "safe zone".
This all comes from an idea I have that will hopefully take place sometime in the future. I want to create a computer game. For that I want to work on concept art :)

Merry Xmas 2013!

Yeah I know here in Israel we don't really celebrate christmas, but it's a nice holiday with lots of stuff around it (like presents @_@). It's interesting to look at last years and see what's changed with my style and if I got any better ^^`

Frozen!

It's really cold over here, and raining, yup it's finally winter :D ...and in that spirit, I went to Frozen which turned out to be the last screening in English (phew) and it's finally given me some inspiration!
I know I've been absent for a while but I had a lot on my mind, I'm getting more into cosplay, and might upload some pictures from that when I'll have some..

Happy Halloween!

So even though Halloween isn't celebrated over here, I wanted to make something for it, I love every special events that includes costuming, witches, ghosts, and all together even better! :D

New Blog Design & Cover Girl!

So as you can see, I've redesigned everything around here, it's time to pick up the pace!

Here's the "completed" painting of the little Devil Girl:

Here's the blog version, I've decided to put the sketch lines over the painting to give off an "artistic" feel (or something XD). Anyway, there's something to sketchwork or the contrast in this version, which I like, even more than the completed drawing. maybe that's something to learn about values & contrast, or the illusion of detail that the sketch gives off. Worth thinking about :)

Harley & Joker

...so I was planning to cosplay Joker again on the Icon convention not long ago with Topaz being Harley. eventually we couldn't make it in time, so I made this for her, also as a going away present :)
